Genealogy Records of Carter County, Oklahoma
Carter County was created July 16, 1907 from Chickasaw Lands.

Archives

The Oklahoma State Archives and Records Management preserves records for the state agencies of Oklahoma. One of the collections of interest to genealogists is the Land Records Surveyor's Field Notes of which there are 235 volumes.
Available free on the site are many digital collections. The search engine to these adobe acrobat files is on the Oklahoma Crossroads page. The files are very large and will take a long time to download. If there is a collection you need to look at again, it would be advisable to save it to your computer and place it on a CD or DVD to avoid the long download time again.
The hours are on the General Policies for Use of the Archives page. The link to the Duplication Fee Schedule is located on that page. Interlibrary loans are available to qualified interlibrary loan libraries.
