     100  Geoffrey [or JAffrey] Currier, b. ab. 1635, was living on Hog Island (now Appledore), Isles of Shoals, in 1669. [J. B. Currier, of Lowell.]

     101  Richard Currier, of Isles of Shoals, m. Elizabeth ______. He d. bef. Oct. 13, 1708, when wid. Eliz. was ap. adm. est. She m. Nathaniel Lord, and they were ap. guardians of the chil. in 1708[Exeter]. Children:

     1   Caleb3 Cushing, Rev., (John,2 Matthew1), b. Jan. 6, 1672-3, in Hingham, Mass.; fourth pastor of the first Salisbury chh.; m. March 14, 1698-9[S], Elizabeth3 Cotton (John,2 John1), [wid. of Rev. (48) James Allen]. He grad. H. C. 1692; was from Scituate, Mass., May, 1696; ord. Nov. 9, 1698; d. Jan. 25, 1752. Mr. Cushing's garrison is ment. Nov., 1702, in Capt. True's order book. [For ancestors, see G. R., 1865, 1865, p. 39; also see G. R., 1854, p 42; 1856, pp. 79, 173.] Children:

     1   Thomas1 Davis, of Haverhill, "mason," b. ab. 1603; m. Christian ______, who d. April 7, 1668[Hv]. Coffin calls him a "sawyer," from Marlboro, Eng.; but in a deed, 1664, he is called a "mason." He came to Newbury in 1641, but settled in Hv. in 1642; selectman in 1646 and '48. He d. July 27, 1683[Hv]. He may have been a bro. of (4) James1 of Hv. Children:

     NOTE.- A Richard Carrier and wife Alice were in Andover early. Martha Carrier, sometimes written Currier, of And., was executed for witchcraft, Aug. 19, 1692, at the same time with Rev. Geo. Burroughs.

     * At Salem is inv. est. Thomas Davis of Hv., dated Oct. 30, 1683; Wm. Neffe adm., March 25, 1684, bond 1718. Adm. again granted to his great grandson, John Corliss of Hv., 1723, and another inv. 1728-9. Joanna Davis was therefore dau. of Thomas, not sister, as given in Corliss Genealogy. We do not know of any descendants of Joseph2. He seems to have had a house in Hv. in 1669.

     79  John1 DAVIS, "yeoman" or "planter," an early settler of Newbury, b. ab. 1612; d. Nov. 12, 1675[Nb]; will presented Sep. 26, 1676, ment. wife "Elnor," son John, her other four sons, and a dau. John and wife members Nb. chh. 1674. By his deposition at Salis. in 1664, he seems to have hired Mr. Hooke's farm in 1662, of Mr. Sam. Hall. Children:

     2  John Davis, "planter," "late of Nb., now on Ames.," sold land in Nb. 1697-8. Nos. 1 and 2 may refer to (S1) John.2

     3  John Davis, Sen., of Ames., sold land in A. to Henry Blaisdell of A., "cordwainer," Dec., 1709. "My grandfather Henry Blaisdell, decd.," ment. in boundary.

     4  John Davis, of Ames., inv. est. May 22, 1727; est. div. Dec., 1727; wid. Sarah; chil.: Sarah; Hannah; and Jonathan, b. Jan. 6, 1695-6[A]. This may possibly be (S1) John;2 but we have no record of the birth of Hannah, nor of the death of Mary and John; and it may be a John of a later generation.

     5  Jonathan Davis of Ames., m. Martha Dow of A., Sep. 17, 1719[A]. He was dead in 1743; est. div. 1747-8; chil.: Elizabeth, John, Ruth, Hannah, Orphia, and Malachi; last five minors in 1743.

       (9) Samuel2 Davis served in King Philip's war, June, 1676; also a Thomas Davis.

       It is possible that in Ames., ab. 1700, (81) was John, Sen.; (23) and (97) John, Jr.; and (93) John 3d; but it is by no means certain that they were the three Johns. If (81) John was not liv. in A. in 1700, then (97) may have been Sen., if living.

About 1667 he rem. to Portsmouth, where he was in the same business. Child:
