Computer Tips and Tricks

How to view two software programs at the same time

There is a way to resize the screens on your computer so that you can view the internet at the some time you are viewing your own genealogy.

In the upper right hand corner of the screen are three icons. There is a minus sign, a box or double box, and an X.

If you move your arrow to the minus sign and tap the touch pad, your screen with disappear and you will see that the software program is now available from the task bar at the bottom of the screen. Move your arrow to the task bar over the name of the software program and tap the touch pad. The software program will again appear on the screen.

The center icon at the top right hand corner of the screen is a box or double box.

1- Double tap the box icon in the middle of the three icons at the top right had corner of your computer screen.  This will give you a smaller window of that software program.
2- Move the arrow to the top blue bar and double click the touch pad, keeping the left button down on the second click.
3- Move the mouse and you will drag the small screen to another place on your computer screen. Place it where you want it.
4- Place the mouse arrow at the edge of the small screen until you get an arrow with a pointer on each end. This is call a double arrow.
5- Double tap the touch pad, holding down your finger the second time and slide the mouse which will move the edge of the small screen in the direction you slide the mouse.

This way you can resize the small window to any size you desire. I place the small screen on one side of my computer screen.

Next open the second software program you want to view and follow the same procedure to resize that window. This time place it on the other side of the computer screen. Now you can view both screens at the same time.

For those of you who are using a touch pad on a laptop, simple double tap the touch pad instead of double clicking the left mouse button.
